As a part of the FREDIE project, Matthias Geiger and myself went to Britain to collect snails and others and also to met some friends, who provided fish for FREDIE.
Fieldwork in Great Britain was very interesting. Driving on the left side on the often very narrow roads was a challenge sometimes. Also finding access to the waterside was not always easy. But water quality and biodiversity was very nice and we were able to find several "common" species for our purposes. The beautiful English landscapes in bright sunshine were enjoyable. Also we much liked the beautiful chalk streams with cold and clear water. Despite snails, we occasionally caught some fishes. Most remarkable, we caught many beautiful Cottus perifretum in all kinds of water bodies.
